- Thompson_Summer_House abstract "The Thompson Summer House is a house in Minnetonka Beach, Minnesota listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It was built in 1887 for Charles Telford Thompson, an attorney and civil leader, and his wife. The house is located just across from Lafayette Bay of Lake Minnetonka. It was listed on the National Register as an example of the types of summer homes that upper-class Minneapolis residents owned on Lake Minnetonka around the end of the 19th century. It is one of the oldest extant summer houses on the lake and has been used as a summer home since its construction. The house faced deterioration from erosion and rotting, so the owners undertook an effort to stabilize the foundation and rebuild the wraparound porch, while preserving the character of the house. This work was featured on a three-part episode of Hometime on PBS. The work was conducted by Wes Foss, the husband of Thompson's great-great granddaughter, Debbie. The project won an award from the Preservation Alliance of Minnesota in 2005.".
