- Warren_Fenley abstract "'William Warren Fenley or "Mick" ' (February 8, 1922 – January 18, 2009) was born on Staten Island. He served as a Marine during WWII. He was a professional basketball player. He spent one and a half seasons in the National Basketball Association (NBA) as a member of the first Boston Celtics team (1946–47). He was offered a contract to play with his home town New York Knickerbockers but declined, to instead play for the Boston Celtics to try and impress his future wife Ann Fenley (a seargent in the marine core) who lived in the Boston area at the time. In his early life he attended Port Richmond High School and later Manhattan College. He was an All American for Manhattan College. After his NBA career was over he became a police officer in the NYPD. He also funded the construction of a school and athletic program from Saint Rita Roman Catholic Church on the north shore of Staten Island. In 1964, he was the first head coach for Monsignor Farrell High School boys' basketball team. He is also the only past or present NBA player from the borough of Richmond County (Staten Island). He is also a member of the Staten Island hall of fame. player".
