- catalog description "Scollay (Harvard, A.B. 1804) left the U.S. for South America in 1806 intending to establish a mercantile house in Buenos Aires. At Montevideo he was appointed director and editor of the British Government press. After the British forces were defeated in Montevideo in 1807, he obtained a position in the British army of the East India Company and sailed with the fleet from England for Calcutta in 1811. He was appointed to the civil service of the company under Sir Thomas Strange in 1813. On the eve of his departure for Madras, that same year, he died of a fever.".
