Also includes personal correspondence of McKeen Cattell and some correspondence between Walter B. Cannon and James McKeen Cattell (father of McKeen Cattell), as well as J. M. With Harry Gold, he initiated studies on the pharmacology of digitalis. Cattell's knowledge of muscle physiology led to research on the specific action of digitalis drugs in increasing the strength of heart-muscle contractions. With Gold, he founded the American College of Clinical Pharmacology in 1963 and edited its journal until 1977.".
