- catalog abstract "The bulk of the collection is correspondence concerning Chew's childhood in North Carolina during the 1940s and 1950s, and her college years, 1959-1963. Most of the letters were written by Chew to her parents and grandparents, although others are included. These letters and photographs provide a continuous record of her life at Agnes Scott College. Later correspondence centers on her studies and teaching at B.U. Also included are samples of her writing, ranging from stories written in grade school through high school poetry competitions to several theater pieces; correspondence of her parents; biographical and genealogical material; clippings; and two home movies. Of particular interest for its glimpses into the mind of an adolescent is a photograph album from a trip she took to Florida with a group of friends in 1958. Much of the college correspondence was reptitious and has been weeded.".
