- catalog description "Civil rights, peace, and social justice activist, Cynthia Anthonsen Foster, daughter of Albert M. and Adeline (Tyler) Wilder, was born August 11, 1907, in Ashby, Massachusetts. She studied art at Boston University and at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. In 1924, she joined the Community Church of Boston, where she met her first husband, Carl Anthonsen, an office clerk and writer. Carl died in 1966 of a heart attack and in 1974, Cynthia married Emery Foster; Emery died in 1979. A member of the Fellowship of Reconciliation and the Women's International League for Peace and Freedom, Foster was also part of the New England War Tax Resistance, donating her possessions to peace-promoting, community, and human service organizations. She died on February 1, 2007, at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center following a massive stroke.".
