- catalog description "During the early 1970s, Hartry was a convening member of the Washington chapter of the Women's Equity Action League and director of WEAL's first national office. While in Washington, D.C., she was also active in the Nameless Sisterhood, did research and analysis for Washington (later Wider) Opportunities for Women, and served as director of research for the Women's Rights Division of Edward Muskie's campaign for the Democratic nomination for president (1971-1972). After moving to Boston in 1973, she served as secretary on the national board of the WEAL Educational and Legal Defense Fund, was a sports consultant for the WEAL Fund in preparing an information kit about women and sports, and was associate director of the New England Region of the Federation of Organizations for Professional Women. She was also a member of the Massachusetts International Women's Year Coordinating Committee and in 1977 was named delegate at large to the International Women's Year conference in Houston. From 1973 to 1975 Hartry was a fellow at the Radcliffe Institute (Cambridge, Massachusetts) where she studied the impact of the feminist movement on women and politics.".
