- catalog description "Born October 29, 1945, in Silverton, Oregon, to Howard and Jane (Goodale) Mann, DiStefano graduated from Central Washington State College in 1966 and received her doctorate in history from Ohio State University in 1970. She taught history at Northern Virginia Community College from 1972 to 1985, and often lectured and participated on panels at conferences on women's history; in 1982 she spoke at the Pentagon during International Women's Day. An active member in the Washington, D.C., area's women's rights community, DiStefano was presented with a Fairfax County (Virginia) Outstanding Women Award in 1985. She co-founded the Northern Virginia Women's History Coalition and the Mount Vernon (Virginia) chapter of the National Organization for Women. In November 1982, DiStefano was diagnosed with breast cancer and she continued teaching, researching, writing, and keeping her journal regularly until October 1986. She died in Alexandria, Virginia, on December 14, 1986.".
