- catalog description "Isaac Chauncy was born in the town of Ware, in Hertfordshire, England on August 23, 1632. His mother was Catharine (Eyre) Chauncy and his father, who would later become President of Harvard College, was Charles Chauncy. Isaac moved to Plymouth, New England, with his family in 1638; in 1641, they moved to Scituate. He attended Harvard, receiving an A.B. in 1651 and an A.M. in 1654. Following his studies, he returned to England, where he served as a pastor for the rest of his life. He appears to have also worked as a physician, although the details of this work are not clear. Chauncy and his wife, Jane, had several children (exact number unknown). Isaac Chauncy died on February 28, 1712.".
