- catalog description "A graduate of Simmons College and the nursing school of Boston Children's Hospital (1907), Farley was one of the first to volunteer for overseas duty with the American Red Cross in 1914. She served as a nurse in Kiev and was awarded the Imperial Russian Order of St. Anne by Czar Nicholas II. In 1916 she was appointed director of the Teaching Center of the New York chapter of the American Red Cross where she started a training program for nurse's aides in city high schools. The program later served as a nationwide model. Farley was also a charter member and president (1946-1948) of the Overseas Service League, on the board of Nurses House, a convalescent home, and president of the New York Counties Registered Nurses Association.".
