- catalog description "Born on April 17, 1907, in Portland, Maine, Catherine Mary (Coyne) Hudson graduated from the School of Journalism at Boston University where she became the first woman appointed to an upper staff position at Boston University News. In 1934 she began writing for the Boston Herald and served as their foreign correspondent in Europe from May 1944 to July 1945. She was one of the first women allowed to accompany Allied troops as they landed in Normandy. From October 1945 to January 1946 she returned to Europe to report on the Nuremberg trials. Upon her return to the states, she became engaged to Judge Eugene (Gene) A. Hudson of the Massachusetts Superior Court. The couple married in 1949 and had no children. Though Coyne assumed Hudson's surname, professionally, she retained Coyne. She died in Yarmouth, Massachusetts, on September 25, 1992.".
