- catalog abstract "(1) Quitclaim by Robert Hall of the city of York, gentleman, and Mary his wife to Peter Jeninges of Silsden in Craven, Yorkshire, gentleman, of all their rights in their messuage, garden, etc., in Conistrete in the parish of St. Martin's in the city of York, late in the tenure or occupation of the grantor or his assigns. John Vaux, mayor of York, at their request caused the seal of the office of the mayoralty of the city of York to be affixed to this deed, having first, according to the custom of the said city, ascertained by examination of the said Mary sole, that she had executed this deed without any compulsion from her husband. Dated 5 January 13 Charles [I] [1638]. (2) Memorandum appended to the document is the certificate of John Geldart, mayor of York, made at the request of Christopher Coates of York, gentleman, that John Myers of York, gentleman, came before him and attested that he saw Robert Hall and Mary his wife seal and deliver as their act and deed the said writing of release to Peter Jeninges, the day and year therein expressed, in witness whereof he has signed his name. Dated 26 January 21 Charles [I] [1646].".
