- catalog description "Lawrence Lader (1919-2006), A.B., 1941, Harvard University, Cambridge, Massachusetts, was a journalist and abortion rights and family planning activist during the mid to late 20th century. Lader wrote extensively on abortion and reproductive rights in the United States. He was founding chair of the National Association for the Repeal of Abortion Laws (now the National Abortion and Reproductive Rights Action League) in 1969, and was instrumental in the campaign that produced the 1970 New York State law legalizing abortion. When his term ended on NARAL's board in 1975 Lader founded Abortion Rights Mobilization, a group whose main mission became lifting the United States ban on RU-486.".
