- catalog description "Maximilian Lindsay Kellner "Max Kellner" (1861-1935) was a professor at the Episcopal Theological School, predecessor to the Episcopal Divinity School, in Cambridge, Massachusetts. He earned an AB at Hobart College in New York in 1861, graduated from the Griswold Theological Seminary in Iowa in 1884, and earned a second AB from Harvard and an S.T.B from the Eipiscopal Theological School in Cambridge in 1885. In 1886 he earned an MA from Harvard. He received S.T.D. degrees from Hobart in 1895 and from the Episcopal Theological School in 1922. He was a professor of Old Testament languages at the Episcopal Theological School from 1898 to 1907, where he also held the position of Professor of Old Testament Literature and Interpretation from 1907 to 1922. He was also a lecturer at the Harvard Divinity School from 1901-1902 and taught Hebrew language courses at Harvard in the Divinity School and in the Faculty of Arts and Sciences beginning in World War I. He joined a 1913-1914 expedition with Dr. Charles Peabody of the Peabody Museum during which he assembled a collection of pottery and glass, chiefly from the vicinity of Jerusalem, that was acquired by the Harvard Semitic Museum after his death. In 1924 he donated 31 woodcuts by Christoph van Sichem to the Fogg Museum. The Annual Report of the Harvard Divinity School for 1935 remembers Dr. Kellner as "an honored and trusted member of our Cambridge theological community."".
