- catalog abstract ""To describe the series of fourteen muscle figures in book II of the De humani corporis fabrica of Vesalius as a lost design is at least a half truth. ... It appears that the first to recognize the fourteen designs as reversed segments of a frieze was G.A. Lindeboom in his book Andreas Vesalius, a limited edition in Dutch published in 1964. The present publication is an attempt to recreate in full folio size the original art work which is here presumed to have been prepared for Vesalius' work by Titian's artists and cutters. ... The present edition is printed from fourteen photo-etched magnesium plates made in full-size from the 1543 edition of Vesalius. ... It is hoped that the present impressions are reminiscent of their originals. At the same time the object has been to recreate not the prints but the orginal art work as nearly as possible. ... Sepia ink has been used to suggest the appearance of sixteenth century drawings."--Introduction.".
