- catalog description "Catherine Ruby (Ware) Waltrip Delmia was born in San Bernardino, Calif., the third of five children of Frank and Harriet Elmia Thompson Ware. Her parents worked seasonally, traveling up and down the state in search of employment, and Delmia lived in poverty during her childhood, and was subjected to periodic emotional abuse by her father. Discouraged by her high school counselor from applying to college, Delmia married Jerry Waltrip, an airman at Beale Air Base in northern California; they had three children.".

- catalog description "The couple moved to southern California and despite an oppressive marriage and deepening depression, Delmia joined a poetry group called the Canyon Poets and began giving readings and conducting workshops. She earned her GED degree and studied photography and sculpture, eventually renting a studio in the Life Arts Building in Riverside. She separated from her husband in 1985, and in 1989 married her long-time friend, poet Ed Rimbaugh, changing her name from Waltrip to Delmia, a name derived from her mother's middle name. During the 1990s she received increasing recognition as a photographer. She moved to San Francisco in 1992 and continued her photography while working as a paralegal. She died in July 1999.".
