- 13 abstract "In this paper, we present a novel method to unveil the community structure of a complex network. It is baptized Complex network cluster detection (or, shortly, CONCLUDE). The strategy relies on three steps: i) ranking edges centrality by using a random walker; ii) calculating the proximity (the inverse of the distance) between each pair of connected nodes; ii) partitioning the network into communities so to optimize the network modularity. The algorithm is computationally efficient since its cost is near linear. The adoption of our community detection method has been proved worthy in different contexts, such as online social networks and biological networks. The devised algorithm, in fact, represents a powerful technique to obtain a meaningful clustering of both weighted and unweighted networks, and its utilization for directed networks is straightforward.".
