Often this goes hand in hand with vacuum techniques or expensive single crystal substrates. In this presentation, wet chemical solution deposition is used to deposit highly crystalline and orientated thin films. Several strategies are covered such as seed layer deposition, self-templating method and an interlayer deposition. A case study covering electro-optical thin films such as Pb(Zr, Ti)O3, BaTiO3, Nb-based materials and BiFeO3 multiferroic is shown. This study highlights the importance of the chemistry of the precursor solutions, wetting behaviour, deposition method and thermal treatment.".
