For consumers, this often leads to either food waste or food borne illnesses. Improper storage is one of the key factors contributing to food spoilage among consumers, especially when it comes to temperature-sensitive food items. Temperature plays a crucial role in storage and is relatively easy to control. The design process applied in this research follows an iterative design thinking approach, incorporating methods to integrate user insights and needs into the design. In addition to conducting a thorough literature review, prototyping, user interviews, and testing play vital roles in the development process. The findings reveal that users have a demand for a compact cooling product that guarantees food safety and enables visual monitoring of the temperature of perishable food items throughout mealtime. By meeting this requirement, consumers can experience a sense of reassurance while concurrently minimizing food waste. To support the technical feasibility, considerations are made regarding material properties and potential production methods. The design outcome is a user-friendly product that fulfils the needs of consumers, thus contributing to enhanced food safety and reduced waste.".
