Participatory observations, semi-structured interviews and focus groups reveal the diverse and multi-layered experiences of SOGI applicants: navigating intersectional discrimination, waiting in reception centres, looking for support with LGBTIQ+ organisations, and going to the asylum interview. Their perception of sexuality, gender, refugeeness and Belgium are (re-)shaped by their interactions with the different actors and contexts they encounter while moving through the asylum system.".
