Literature concerning prevalent consequences of CKD such as chronic systemic hypertension and renal proteinuria, both important drivers of disease progression, is scarce in non-domestic felids. Management of CKD and these deleterious sequelae can potentially be extrapolated from the current knowledge in the domestic cat. This case report of an African lion (Panthera leo leo) shows the implementation of evidence-based strategies to diagnose and treat CKD-related systemic hypertension and proteinuria and might serve as a rationale for future research on these conditions in different Felidae.".
