- aggregation title "The emergence of 'holistic reconciliation': lessons learned from victims and offenders inside the South African truth and reconciliation commission".
- aggregation abstract "In the empirical study at hand, a closer look is taken at the issues that persist in post–Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) South Africa. These issues are mapped and discussed based on interviews with victims and offenders who have taken part in the TRC process and further contextualized within restorative justice theory and social justice theory. From this study emerges a new conceptualization of reconciliation called “holistic reconciliation.” The general conclusion is that transitional justice aiming at reconciliation is an essentially interdisciplinary process, entailing many different processes and actors. If proper reconciliation is to be achieved, these different processes need to be fine-tuned and coordinated with each other. These theoretical findings lead to various recommendations for research and for policy making.".
