- aggregation title "The effects of hydrochloric acid on mortar".
- aggregation abstract "The effect of hydrochloric acid attack on three types of mortars is studied by means of a polarization microscope adapted for fluorescence microscopy. In order to get an idea about the consequences of the leaching phenomena in the attacked mortar zone, the thin sections are observed by means of a scanning electron microscope, combined with an analyzing system. Moreover, pH-measurements in the solution surrounding the mortar samples are performed to retrieve information about the aggressive medium being neutralized by the leaching of the mortars. At last, mechanical tests learn something about the weakening of the samples. Some remarkable differences in the behaviour of the mortar types can be noticed.".
