- aggregation title "Teoqualo o Dios es comido: un plato ritual escenificado por Sor Juana Inés sobre la base de la cronica de Torquemada".
- aggregation abstract "This study will be published as a B2-chapter in (Iberoamericana Vervuert 2010). I study the way in which Sor Juana uses in a selective but very focused way the information of the historical writer Torquemada about the sacrifices to the Aztec divinities. We see that Sor Juana uses a description that is apt to multiple interpretations. She selects only those elements that contradict neither the Christian religion, nor the Aztec ritual. The example of the pure blood versed to venerate Huitzilopochtli and Tlaloc is clear: Sor Juana tries to shock neither the Christian reader nor the indigenous people. When she has to choose between the diabolical and providential interpretation of both divinities, she opts for the latter. The divine lecture of similarity between Aztec and Christian Gods prepares and justifies the evangelization of the autochthonous population.".
