- Bailemos_un_vals abstract ""Bailemos un vals" (Spanish pronunciation: [baiˈlemos um ˈbals], "Let's Dance a Waltz") was the Spanish entry in the Eurovision Song Contest 1978, performed in Spanish by José Vélez. The song is a ballad in 3/4 time in which Vélez sings about a French girl called Michèle, whom he spent a summer with and now cannot find. He sings that when he does find his Michèle again, he will ask her in her own language: "Voulez-vous danser avec moi? Do you want to dance a waltz?" Velez also recorded the song in French and German, as "Voulez-vous danser avec moi?" and "Voulez-vous danser avec moi? (Señorita wir sind ein Paar)" respectively. The song was written by Manuel de la Calva and Ramón Arcusa, the team beind Massiel's winning entry in the 1968 Contest, "La, la, la". The song was performed seventh on the night, following France's Joël Prévost with "Il y aura toujours des violons" and preceding United Kingdom's Co-Co) with "The Bad Old Days". At the close of voting, it had received 65 points, placing 9th in a field of 20.It was succeeded as the Spanish representative at the 1979 contest by Betty Missiego with "Su canción".".
