- Boroughs_of_Tijuana abstract "The Municipality of Tijuana, which includes the city and other adjacent land, is divided into nine administrative boroughs (delegaciones). The boroughs are in turn divided into colonias or ejidos. These boroughs offer administrative services such as urban planning, civil registry, inspection, verification, public works and community development and are served by a delegado.Centenario — This borough is one of the farthest east in Tijuana. This is the borough with the largest number of factories and maquiladoras. Its largest colony is Ciudad Industrial ("Industrial City"). Three of the city's most important streets, Boulevard Bellas Artes, Boulevard Industrial and Mexican Federal Highway 2, are located here. This delegacion contains the Otay Mesa Port of Entry to the United States and the Friendship Park (Parque de la Amistad).Centro — Delegación Centro includes the old downtown, or Zona Centro, the new business district (Zona Río), Zona Norte (the red-light district), Agua Caliente, and other adjacent neighborhoods ("zonas"). This is the historical midpoint of Tijuana; City Hall is located here as well as most of the tourist areas such as Avenida Revolución, and the business districts. The Tijuana Cultural Center (CECUT for CEntro CUltural de Tijuana) and the Plaza Río Tijuana, until recently the largest mall in the state, are both located here in the Zona Río.Cerro Colorado — The borough is located to the north of and along the west edge of the Cerro Colorado ("Red Hill"). Because of its height many of the area's antennae for radio and television stations are located on its peak. The borough stretches as far north as to include the colonias on the north side of Calzada Guaycura, and stretches west to Ave. Insurgentes and Phase III of the Zona Río. Major commercial nodes include Plaza Monarca.La Mesa — This is where Morelos Park, the largest public park in the city, is located, as well as the Plaza Mundo Divertido, the Macroplaza shopping center and the Centro de Enseñanza Técnica y Superior (CETYS) university.La Presa — The La Presa borough is named after the Abelardo L. Rodríguez Dam ("Presa" means "Dam" in English), but actually does not include the dam within its boundaries. The borough should not be confused with the neighborhoods (colonias) that have La Presa in their name northwest of the dam; those form part of the La Mesa borough. La Presa borough includes the El Florido industrial park and several neighborhoods with El Florido in the name. La Presa borough is bordered by Centenario (borough) on the north and Cerro Colorado (borough) on the west.Mesa de Otay — Mesa de Otay borough is located east of the center and Zona Río; south of the U.S. border and San Diego's Otay Mesa neighborhood; west of Centenario and north of La Mesa. The Otay Mesa Port of Entry is here, as are the Tijuana International Airport, the Autonomous University of Baja California, Tijuana, the Universidad Tecnológica de Tijuana, and many maquiladoras. Main shopping centers are the Centro Comercial Otayand Plaza Americana Otay, which is located in front of Centro Comercial Otay. The area is noted as the second gastronomic hub of the city, with many restaurants.Playas de Tijuana — This is the westernmost borough of the city bordered by the Pacific Ocean on the west and the United States border on the north. This is where the beaches of Tijuana are located (hence the name) and it is also one of the two exits to the south towards Rosarito and Ensenada.San Antonio de los Buenos — San Antonio de los Buenos borough lies southwest of the city center and Sánchez Taboada boroughs and east of Playas de Tijuana. Blvd. de los Fundadores and Periférico are major thoroughfares.Monte San Antonio lies in this borrough and it's the highest part of Tijuana, so high that most TV and Radio anthennas for the largest broadcasting networks in Mexico have installations there as well as some US ones.Sánchez Taboada — Sánchez Taboada borough is located south of the city center and southwest of La Mesa.".
