- Catthorpe abstract "Catthorpe is a village and civil parish in the Harborough district of Leicestershire, England. It is close to the A5 road which forms the border with Warwickshire- the nearest town is Rugby, about four miles (6 km) south-west. The parish had a population of 179 according to the 2001 census. The parish church is St Thomas. The local pub is the Cherry Tree on Main Street. The village has given its name to the road junction where the M1, M6 and A14 roads meet, which is known to be regularly congested owing to its poor, and slightly dangerous design. The underpass used by the A14 under the M1 and M6, was built in 1965 for the former A427, which ran through Catthorpe to Swinford from Rugby across the A5. In 2009, the Highways Agency announced their preferred design for the upgrade of the junction after a public consultation in 2008.Catthorpe briefly came to national attention in 1999 when alleged war criminal Konrāds Kalējs was discovered to be living at a nursing home near the village.".
