- Colu abstract "Colu is a fictional planet in DC Comics whose primary inhabitants are called the Coluans. The planet is originally not given a name, referred to only as Brainiac's home world, but eventually it is called Bryak, a name only used once. Another name given for the planet was Yod (Hebrew for Iodine, like many other planets in the DC universe, it is named after a chemical element), which has appeared only once in comics, as was later pointed out in a letter by a fan. According to the reply to the letter, "Yod" is the Coluan name for their homeworld, but until recently, this name had not reappeared. However, in the New 52, it has been revealed that the full name of the planet is in fact Yod-Colu. This revelation was made by none other than Brainiac himself during his re-introduction into the New 52. Furthermore, this new name has been reaffirmed in a follow-up story that further expands on Brainiac's origin. It has been suggested that "Yod" is to "Colu" what "Earth" is to the "United Nations." In other words, one word describes the actual name of the planet while the other describes the name of their civilization or world-government.".
