The idea was brought forward by EasyJet in June 2007, as a proposal of what the next generation of narrowbody aircraft (with the first flight technically possible for 2015) could look like, but since then no news on the advances of the project were released. Since then, however, both Boeing and Airbus have started development and sales of their updated narrowbody aircraft (737 MAX, A320 NEO), and Bombardier has launched its C-series aircraft. None of these follow the advanced engine and design concepts of the EcoJet. Further, the other narrowbody manufacturers around the world (such as COMAC or UAC) have also recently launched narrowbody projects (the C919, Sukhoi Superjet and Irkut MS-21). As such, no brand new aircraft development, whether like the EcoJet or not, is to be expected before 2025-2030.".
