- Grant_Musgrove abstract "Grant Steven Musgrove (born 28 March 1968) is a former Australian politician. He was the member for Springwood in the Legislative Assembly of Queensland from 1998 to 2001, representing the Australian Labor Party.Musgrove was educated at local primary schools and graduated from Springwood High School in 1985. He completed a Bachelor of Commerce, majoring in Economics, and a Bachelor of Science, majoring in Environmental Planning, at Griffith University before becoming a policy adviser. In 1992 he was employed in the Department of Premier and Cabinet; in 1995 he became an economic and environmental issue management consultant. In 1998, Musgrove was elected as the Labor member for Springwood. Musgrove secured the largest electoral swing to a government member in the 1998 Queensland state election (11%) and was elected as its youngest member. Musgrove's election on a narrow margin of 1% enabled the formation of the first Beattie minority government. Musgrove was appointed to the Queensland Innovation Council (developing the Queensland Innovation Strategy), the Queensland Public Works Committee and several Budget Estimates Committees. He moved to the crossbench in 2000 and did not contest the 2001 state election following allegations of a culture of widespread branch stacking in the Queensland Labor Party that preceded the Shepardson Inquiry. Musgrove was not found to have committed any offence, and was not referred to the Queensland Director of Public Prosections for consideration of whether any offence had been committed.Musgrove went on to work as a lobbyist with Greg Rudd's Open Door Consulting, Senior Adviser in the Chancellery at Griffith University. Musgrove is now Chief Executive Officer of the Australian Council of Recycling. Musgrove's brother Ross Musgrove is a former Chief of Staff to Queensland Liberal National Party Leader John-Paul Langbroek and close to Queensland Premier Campbell Newman.".
