Moreover, when individuals make decisions as part of a group, there is a tendency to exhibit a bias towards discussing shared information (i.e. shared information bias), as opposed to unshared information.Theoretical and empirical research suggests collective decisions can be more accurate than individual decisions, a phenomenon known as the ‘wisdom of crowds’. However, in relatively complex environments, collective accuracy does not always increase monotonically with group size. When the wisdom of crowds is not observed, a finite, and often small, group size can maximize decision accuracy.".
