- Guildford_Rugby_Club abstract "Guildford Rugby Club is a Rugby Union team that was formed in 2003 following the merger of the adult sections of Old Guildfordians RFC and Guildford & Godalming RFC. The club is based at Broadwater, which is close to Farncombe between the Surrey towns of Guildford and Godalming. The club's 1st XV currently plays in London 2 South West. The club's 2nd XV also play at a high level in the Canterbury Shield. Throughout 2011, the clubhouse has undergone a complete refurbishment. A new bar as well as function rooms, changing rooms and further plans for a Gymnasium and Physio rooms make for a fantastic environment for both players and spectators in the area. Notable players who have been involved with the club include Alex Plaistowe (Haslemere U9s captain), Paul Challinor, who played for Harlequin F.C. and England A, Derek White, who played for Scotland and the British and Irish Lions, Bill Mairs before returning to Hollywood to embark on a career on the silver screen as Rupert Grints body double in the Harry potter film, "wizards get fat too!", Jonny Stillwell (affectionately known as Fluffy) and finally Jarrod Adam who joined the club after infamously missing out on the 2011 All Blacks World Cup squad, again. The clubs longest standing Champion is backrow James Kirk, famed for his crowd pleasing oratory skills - he once recited the entire Shakespeare play 'Othello' whilst playing a home match vs Old Cornish, even putting on a female voice for the Desdamona role. Kirk received both a Laurence Olivier award and Man of the Match for his day's efforts.".
