He was the assistant of Alice Vanderbilt Morris, who founded the International Auxiliary Language Association, and the closest collaborator of Alexander Gode. Blair co-authored the Interlingua Grammar, which was published by IALA in 1951.In 1953, Blair accompanied Alexander Gode to the newly formed Interlingua Division of Science Service. There, he and Gode edited the magazine Novas de Interlingua – the natural successor to Novas de IALA – with an international editorial committee whose members resided in Canada, Denmark, France, Great Britain, Italy, Switzerland, and the United States.He left at the end of 1955 to start his own firm. Blair was also Secretary of the American Interlingua Society and editor of the society's magazine, Interlingua at Work.".
