In the 1920s he made several Hollywood silent films for director Rex Ingram, including The Magician, The Garden of Allah (1927 film) and The Three Passions. He starred opposite Rex Ingram's wife, actress Alice Terry in all three pictures. To his early work belongs Die Dame mit den Sonnenblumen, Homo immanis and Der Stern von Damaskus. He lived and worked in Berlin after World War I.Thanks to his singing talent, Petrovich made a successful transition into talking pictures. To his well-known movies of this time belong Die Fledermaus, Der Feldherrnhügel, and Die Nacht der Entscheidung.".
