- Jarte abstract "Jarte is a word processor for users of Microsoft Windows, based around the WordPad engine. In terms of market appeal, Jarte is a lighter alternative to the feature laden Microsoft Word. The standard version of Jarte is offered free of charge, while an enhanced version called Jarte Plus may be purchased. In terms of visual layout, the creators of Jarte have been influenced by Mac OS X. Jarte bears a striking resemblance to TextEdit. It has three select-able basic layouts: mini, compact, and full, —each with user-select-able menus, bars, panels, and so forth. One form looks similar to Wordpad's layout. Jarte is fully compatible with Windows Vista and offers 'tabbed' functionality. It reads DOC, RTF, TXT and DOCX and is also capable of export to HTML or PDF.Currently, Jarte is only available for Windows Operating systems (98 SE, 2000, XP, Vista, 7 and 8), but it can be used on Linux-based systems with Wine. Jarte works on both 32-bit and 64-bit editions of Windows.".
