- Jason_Winters abstract "Jason Winters (September 13, 1930 – December 12, 2004) was an adventurer, turned public speaker and English author, best known for his 1980 book Killing Cancer and has been published in more than 9 languages (English, Japan, Spain, Germany, Indonesia, China, Korea. etc.). In 1967, Jason Winters sailed the Mackenzie River by canoe. In 1968, he crossed the Canadian Rocky Mountains by hot air balloon. Also in 1968, he attempted to cross the Atlantic Ocean by helium balloon. The balloon crashed into the Atlantic and Jason Winters was rescued two days later. At the age of 46, Jason noticed a swelling on the side of his neck. In 1977, doctors diagnosed him with terminal cancer named squamous cell carcinoma. He had a tumor wrapped around his carotid artery and attached to the wall of his jugular vein in his neck. Winters underwent five weeks of cobalt radiation treatments. Surgeons then recommended that Jason have radical neck surgery, which would include removal of his tongue, jaw bone and neck muscles. When doctors told him the surgery probably would not extend his life, he opted not to have the surgery performed. Winters then traveled to Mexico to receive Laetrile injections. After the injections, his tumor began to shrink, but weeks later returned to its original size. Preparing to die, Winters began reading religious books, which mentioned using herbs as medicine. He then began his search around the world to find these herbs. Winters discovered herbs in Singapore, the United States and England, which he mixed together to brew a tea. Winters experienced remission, and was asked to speak in places throughout the world, such as Hong Kong, Tokyo, Indonesia and Singapore.Winters became president of The Federation of Integrated Medicine, with the objective of getting both Traditional medicine and Alternative medicine to work together for the benefit of Mankind. In 1992 he received a Certificate of Special Congressional Recognition from the United States Congress. Winters died on December 12, 2004 in Las Vegas, NV.".
