- Joswig_syndrome abstract "Joswig syndrome is a very rare presumably hereditary disorder, which belongs to the group of GM2 gangliosidoses and was first mentioned by H. Joswig M.D. in 1882.As opposed to gangliosidoses such as Tay-Sachs disease or Sandhoff disease, which affect the brain and the spinal cord, Joswig syndrome is a predominant disease of the peripheral nervous system. Histology reveals a diffuse swelling of the Nodes of Ranvier in peripheral nerves preferably in the upper limbs, which goes hand in hand with a decrease in function and sensitivity. The etiology and pathogenesis of Joswig syndrome remain unclear since only 10 cases have been reported worldwide.".
