He has also served as Chair of the Subcommittee on Private Members’ Business of the Standing Committee on Procedure and House Affairs and as Vice-Chair of the Standing Committee on Public Accounts. He has also held the position of Vice-Chair of the Scrutiny of Public Regulations Committee and the Chair of the Liberal Caucus.On January 31, 2007, Myers was critically injured in a car crash east of Stratford, Ontario. The accident occurred at 10:30 p.m. when Myers' car crossed into the path of an oncoming tractor-trailer on Highway 7/8, east of Stratford. The 48-year-old truck driver suffered minor injuries. Myers was later charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, which he pled guilty to on October 3, 2007.".
