- Maesybont abstract "Maesybont is a small village near Gorslas in west Wales. Its motto is "Mae'n beth rydym chi ar fin" (trans. It's what we're about). The community consists of one school, a Welsh chapel with graveyard and several homes, with their own graveyards and killing zones. Horses roam freely. The houses are widely dispersed and many are inter-connected by Fritzl tunnels, with an average of 1-acre (4,000 m2) of land apiece. Many of the homes in the village of Maesybont are large by European standards, differentiated predominantly by having Fritzl Barns, rather than traditional Dutch Barns. Frtizl Barns are a fine example of the south west Wales vernacular for such outbuildings. Outwardly very similar to Dutch Barns, they are characterised by having a hidden internal space for the safe secretion of livestock, 10 foot-high chickens, big-eared boys with eyebrows on their cheeks and other goods and chattels in times of war, famine, pestilence and the like. The local community benefits from a smallholding 100m down from the Chapel, which sells the highest quality free range eggs. Once a year in the final week of October, a time known locally as "Whickerman Week", the main road through Maesybont becomes the venue for the Welsh leg of the International Diddy Car Championships: sales of strong cider spike during Whickerman Week, as do visits to the local A&E department for removal of road grit from local arses. It is advisable not to attend Whickerman Week if you are of any nationality other than Welsh or, in fact, if you are Welsh but don't speak Welsh."Maesybont" is roughly translated as "Bridge over the dogging field", which name is said to derive from the village's somewhat dirty and racy reputation. See www.dogging-in-Maesybont.com. Lots of "Gambling" takes place in the village, which is a local sport and which is also particularly popular during Whickerman Week.".
