- Moe_Herscovitch abstract "Montgomery "Moe" Hart Herscovitch (October 27, 1897 – July 21, 1969) was a Canadian middleweight and welterweight boxer who competed in the early 1920s. He was also a prominent rugby player in Montreal.Fighting out of Montreal, Herscovitch won a bronze medal in middleweight boxing at the 1920 Summer Olympics, losing to fellow Canadian Georges Prud'homme in the semi-final. He turned pro early the next year, and would defeat fellow Olympic gold medallist Bert Schneider on May 18, 1921. Herscovitch spent two years fighting mostly around New York City, putting together an unimpressive record. That didn't stop him from being advertised as the Canadian welterweight champion when he fought world titleholder Mickey Walker on December 21, 1923 in Toronto. Walker won with a sixth round knockout. Herscovitch retired not long after.".
