- Moving_Vehicles abstract "Moving Vehicles were a British art rock group formed in London, England, and active from 1975 to 1982. The group were founded by Drew Barfield (lead vocals and guitar), Gary Howard (guitar and keyboards), Stuart Watt (bass) and Chris Bolton (drums). When the group only consisted of Barfield, Howard and Watt, they were titled Terra Nova who were active from 1974 to 1975 and released one album, Terra Nova, in January 1976. Shortly after the release of the album, Bolton joined and the band name was changed to Moving Vehicles, who achieved major success, releasing four highly successful albums, Moving Vehicles (1976), The Path to Nowhere (1977), Royalties (1979) and Blackout (1982) in the space of seven years. Moving Vehicles formed in the punk rock scene of the mid-1970s, but instead of following the punk rock movement, they instead decided to challenge it with their art rock style, which was one of the reasons they were so successful. The group's mainstream phase happened between 1975 and 1980, when the songs were being written by all four members. However, in 1980, Stuart Watt departed the group and was replaced by Paul Oates and Chris Bolton declined from songwriting, which left Drew Barfield and Gary Howard to tackle the songwriting. Before long, Barfield and Howard began to run out of ideas for their songs which often lead to arguments between the pair, and eventually they took it upon themselves to dismiss the band, and the members went their separate ways. In 1989, seven years after the group initially dissolved, each of the members (including Paul Oates) were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. In 2004, the group reformed and embarked on their third world tour, before dissolving again in 2005.".
