- Moving_Vehicles_discography abstract "This is the discography of the 1970s–1980s art rock group Moving Vehicles and includes a list of albums and singles recorded and released by the group. The group's discography includes four studio albums, four live albums, eleven compilation albums, two extended plays, twenty-four singles and one re-issue. The group was formed by lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist Drew Barfield, lead guitarist Gary Howard, bassist Stuart Watt and drummer Chris Bolton in London, England in 1975. Three of the group's members (Barfield, Howard and Watt) originally formed the low-profile group Terra Nova in 1974, who released only three singles and only one album. When the group were joined by Bolton they made an ultimate transformation into the commercially successful Moving Vehicles. The band made their breakthrough with their 1976 album Moving Vehicles, and between 1975 and 1979, Barfield, Howard, Watt and Bolton wrote all of the group's songs, including some of their biggest hits such as "Watching as the World Goes Up in Flames", "Living for the Moment", "The Path to Nowhere", "Without a Doubt" and "The Better Things in Life", and they also recorded successful cover versions of The Doors hit "The End" and The Beatles hit "Drive My Car". Their two albums The Path to Nowhere (1977) and Royalties (1979) gained much critical acclaim. However, in 1980, Watt departed from the group to replaced by Paul Oates. Watt was unaware that his departure lead to the dismissing of the group, as Bolton declined from writing songs and Oates chose only to play bass for the group. This left Barfield and Howard to write the group's hits. Before long, Barfield and Howard began to run out of ideas, writing relatively unsuccessful songs such as "The Death of Rock 'n' Roll" and "Scars of Fate". The pair eventually began to argue over ideas from the songs, arguments which neither Bolton or Oates decided to intervene in. Eventually, in 1982, the group released a low-charting fourth album, Blackout, in order to try and reboot the group's popularity. However, the same year following the group's unsuccessful fourth album, Barfield and Howard made the decision to dismiss the group and they dissolved within weeks of the album's release. The group were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1989, but never reformed until twenty-two years after their separation in 2004, when they were re-assembled and embarked on a Reunion Tour which ended in 2005. During that time the group released a new live album, and also re-issued one of their best known singles, "Living for the Moment", in 2005.".
