Abnormalities in neural crest development cause neurocristopathies, which include conditions such as frontonasal dysplasia, Waardenburg-Shah syndrome, and DiGeorge syndrome.Therefore, defining the mechanisms of neural crest development may reveal key insights into vertebrate evolution and neurocristopathies.".
