From 1946 he was a member of the national party board.He was born in Øystre Slidre, he took an education as an agronomist. He spent most of his career as county agronomist in Oppland, from 1927 to 1952. He had been editor-in-chief of Vårt land from 1921 to 1922 and Småbrukaren from 1922 to 1925.He was a member of the board of the Norwegian Farmers' and Smallholders' Union from 1924 to 1925, and chaired the county chapter from 1934 to 1950. He chaired the Norwegian Association of Sheep and Goat Farmers from 1946 to 1952.".
