The eleventh Baronet voted against the Act of Union in 1799 in order to retain Ireland's independence from Great Britain and, refusing Government bribes, voted against it again in 1800 when the legislation was finally enacted. The current British Chancellor of the Exchequer, Rt Hon George Osborne MP, is heir apparent to the Irish baronetcy.The family seat was Newtown Anner House, near Clonmel, County Tipperary.".
