It is currently used mostly for football matches and is the home ground of Benoni Premier United and has long been the lair of the Eastern Transvaal rugby team who plays in the Currie Cup first division. Brink, who was president of the "sub-federation" of rugby in the Eastern Transvaal (before it became detached from the Transvaal in 1947), and mayor of the town of Springs.It was inaugurated on 3 July 1949, during a game between Eastern Transvaal and the All Blacks won by the South Africans (6-5)! In 1962, the Falcons will beat the British Lions 19-16. Only one other test was held there in 2002 (victory for the Springboks against Argentina 49-29).".
