- Ptychosperma_elegans abstract "Ptychosperma elegans, also known as the "Solitaire palm" and the "Alexander palm," is a very slender palm common to Florida but native to Australia. It is sometimes confused with Archontophoenix alexandrae which is a much larger palm but appears similar in the immature form. This palm is also sometimes called an Adonidia palm when sold at retail establishments, though the Solitaire palm is even thinner (often 1–2 inches in diameter rather than 3–4 inches). This species is generally limited to about 30 feet high when planted in unsheltered locations, as the tree is so thin it becomes vulnerable to wind damage. In sheltered locations or clusters, 40 feet is attainable.".
