- Richard_Westbrook abstract "Richard Westbrook (born 10 July 1975 in Chelmsford, Essex, England, United Kingdom) is a British racing driver noted for his success in racing Porsche and sportscars. As a boy he attended St Joseph's College, Ipswich. He has won both the Porsche Supercup international championship and the Porsche Carrera Cup in his native Britain. The Porsche Carrera Cup commenced in 2002 and Richard was immediately a front-runner. He won the 2004 title and was runner-up in both 2003 and 2005. His 2005 totals for victories and pole positions are both series records. Having done a few Supercup races in 2002 he returned in 2005 in rounds which did not clash with his UK commitments. He won the season opener in Bahrain and came 9th overall. In 2006 he finished every Supercup race on the podium, wrapping up the title with two races to go, against drivers such as Uwe Alzen, Alessandro Zampedri and Patrick Huisman. He has also competed in several Carrera races at home where he has alternated with Danny Watts. Both won races in the #2 car but, after a run of strong drives from Watts, Danny kept the ride to the end of the season, finishing third overall. In 2007 Westbrook won his second Porsche Supercup title in a row, with wins in Spain and Hungary, along with five other podium finishes. In 2008 he drove a programme that included the FIA GT Championship, Le Mans Series and American Le Mans Series. He was the only driver to win at least one race in all three categories. In 2009 he drove for VICI Racing in the American Le Mans Series and for Prospeed in the FIA GT Championship. In his first ALMS Race this year he finished fourth at Long Beach, alongside Johannes Stuck. In the FIA GT Championship Westbrook won the GT2 class overall after victories at Silverstone (UK), Adria (Italy), Hungaroring (Hungary) and Zolder (Belgium) backed up by second places in Algarve (Portugal) and Paul Ricard (France). In 2010 he entered the 24 Hours of Le Mans in the GT2 class, driving a Porsche 997 GT3-RSR for BMS Scuderia Italia alongside Marco Holzer and Timo Scheider. For 2012, Richard will compete in the Rolex Sports Car Series in Spirit of Daytona Racing's Corvette DP. He will also return as the endurance driver for the Corvette Racing in the American Le Mans Series and Le Mans 24 Hours.Westbrook will be taking part in the 2014 Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona race in the Spirit of Daytona Corvette Daytona Prototype with Michael Valiante and Mike Rockenfeller.".
