- Saraiki_people abstract "The Saraiki people (Saraiki: سرائیکی قوم) are a recently developed linguistic group native to southern Punjab, northern Sindh, Southern Khyber Pakhtunkha and northeastern Balochistan provinces of Pakistan. Seraiki definition is vague since there is no proof of Seraiki civilization before the creation of Pakistan. Also before the creation of Pakistan Punjabi language was divided into dialects and Multani diaelect was the dominant dialect of South Punjab that was later referred to as the Seraiki language. This definition was promoted in the 1960s mostly by Mirjats, Balochs and Pakhtuns who want to disassociate with Punjabi identity. The Saraiki speaking people follow many religions, among them mostly Islam but also some are Hindu. After the independence of Pakistan in 1947, the minority Hindus and Sikhs migrated to India while the Muslims refugees from India settled down in the Seraiki region of Pakistan. A significant number of Saraiki speaking people also reside in India, with most concentrated in Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Maharashtra and Gujarat.".
