- Shahdara_Bagh abstract "Shahdara, or Shahdara Bagh, (Urdu: شاہدره), is a northern suburb of Lahore, Pakistan. It is situated on the northern side of the Ravi River.Shahdara can be translated as "the way of kings". Shah translates as "king" and dara translates as the way of kings. In the 15th century, Shahdara was the gate entrance of the Lahore and Mughal Emperor. It is famous for several historic Mughal architectural sites. These include the Akbari Sarai, the Tomb of Jahangir (who was the Emperor from 1605 to 1627), the tomb of his consort Nur Jahan, as well as the tomb of his brother-in-law Asif Khan. Shahdara Bagh is also home to Kamran's Baradari (Kamran Ki Baradari). Although this site was originally built on the Ravi River bank, it is currently situated in the middle of the river near the Ravi Bridge because of changes in the river's course.Present day Shahdara is a busy town with major markets and bazaars. It is divided into an old town and a new town. It has its own railway station that links it to other cities. The M-2 Motorway and N-5 GT Road passes through it, linking Lahore to northern Pakistan. The most famous area in Shahdara Bagh is Mahmood Shaheed Road (Lajpat Road) which is located near the Shadara Bagh Railway Station. In Shahdara, Al-Miraj Free Eye Hospital is the only hospital providing free eye treatment. There are more than three sports grounds. It is an emerging hub of private educational institutions (recently the top two positions in Punjab University B.A Examination were by people from Shahdara).Besides, many other development projects, like the Great Government Hospital, are under way.The largest business community staying in Shahdara are Mughals, who have migrated here from India during independence. They are living in the locality of Lajpat Road. Most Mughals are engaged in small business related to iron. Iron accessories are manufactured and supplied all over Pakistan from here.Shahdra also has a power station of fifty megawatts and a natural gas distribution center. Millat Tractors, the biggest tractor manufacturer, is also situated there.".
